ERGONOMIC ASSESSMENTS
why have AN ergonomic assessment?
Employers have a duty of care to employees and employees have a duty to themselves and others whilst at work.
When is an ergonomic assessment required?
Examples of triggers for ergonomic assessments include when there are new starters or a change of workstation, if someone is experiencing symptoms or managing a healthcare condition, or when an employee is returning to work after a period of sickness absence or medical procedure.
People of working age
If someone works or studies using computers or other display screen devices, drives for a living or spends part of their working time in a vehicle, or carries out repetitive or manual tasks as part of their work role - they benefit from good ergonomics at work.
Those living with health conditions or experiencing discomfort, pain or other symptoms when working can also benefit.
Anyone wanting to ‘future-proof’, to prevent health issues related to work and to work healthily and productively can benefit from ergonomic assessment.
Employers benefit by fulfilling their statutory duties to employees and supporting employees at all lifestages.
Children, students and older people
Good ergonomics benefit non-workers too.
Students, job-seekers and older people who are not working can likewise benefit from using good ergonomic set ups to support their wellbeing and optimise their health, whether studying for school, college, university or for pleasure, whether using computers or carrying out manual or automated tasks.

Entry level assessment for employees using Display Screen Equipment (DSE)
Many companies carry out DSE assessments in house. If not, we can provide them either face to face in the locations we cover or virtually.
These assessments can also flag up employees who need further support via more specialised ergonomic assessment.
Employees are taken through each element of their workstation equipment to ensure that they are using what they need, and to identify any risks in line with government requirements.
Added value: Where possible adjustments are carried out, and we also give each person tips on optimal positioning.
Assessment time: 45 minutes per person
Where: face to face at the workstation or virtually
Contact us to book, for more information or a quote - fees are dependent on the number of DSE assessments booked.
Please note: We carry out a minimum of 3 face to face DSE assessments in one location per session.
-

Where possible ergonomic adjustments are carried out on the day.
We provide bespoke recommendations including any relevant equipment needed to support the employee to carry out their work.
Added value: We also give individual advice on optimal positioning, posture and relevant activity as part of the assessment.
We may also signpost to appropriate exercise information.
Assessment time: 60 - 90 minutes depending on complexity

We recommend that these assessments are carried out face to face, but for homeworkers, we can provided them virtually if needed - see section on Virtual Assessments.
We require additional information about the workstation prior to virtual assessments.
